We support Calvary Food Pantry all year long but read about what we did this past year!
AUBURN--Two-thousand ten is a huge number. This was the challenge goal for the number of items the many generous Christians at Auburn United Methodist Church were trying to collect for the Calvary Food Pantry in their "Let's Do It Again" mission. During the few weeks between Thanksgiving Sunday in November and Souper Bowl Sunday, Feb. 7, they did it!
In fact, the Auburn Methodists' 2010 most successful Food Drive collected a total of 2,051 items for the Calvary Food Pantry! The now-merged Methodist church at 99 South St. Also collected $2,123 from its Souper Bowl Sunday celebration, Christmas Eve offerings and individual contributions for their "Let's Do It Again" . This they gave to Calvary's Food Pantry to help purchase supplies as needed to keep Auburn's hungry fed this winter.
"Our church has shown amazing generosity during this food drive and other mission projects we have been working on," said Mary Howard, chairperson of the church's Christian Education Committee. "We are truly blessed to be able to help others and put our call from God into action."
